Laser cutting of
pipes and profiles

Whether sawing, milling or de-burring tubes and profiles including preparation for welding connections – with our flexible and high-powered TRUMPF laser pipe cutting machine we can carry everything out in a single working step. Diverse profile material and even pipes with a with a diameter of up to 250 mm and wall thicknesses up to 8 mm we can work highly productively with it.

The high precision of cutting and dimensions when laser cutting pipes and profiles as well as cut edges free from burrs make costly re-machining almost superfluous. Individual components for tubular frame constructions for small series up to small series can be fabricated more effectively than with usual processes. You will save work and costs with a consistently high quality.

flow drilling

Flow drill Technology

In very thin-walled tubes and profiles only one or two threads can be inserted. This is not sufficient for a high-strength thread. To cut larger threads into thin sheets we use the flow drill technology.

During flow drilling a specially ground tool drills through the material without producing metal chips. In contrast to the normal drilling, the material is not removed but rather displaced and plasticized through power and frictional heat. This causes a bulge on the underside of the hole which increases wall thickness threefold. Within a few seconds highly stable rim holes are formed. Extensive constructions with rivet nuts, weld nuts and insert nuts as well as thread cutting can be avoided.

We use flow drilling for all common material thicknesses from 0.5 mm.

Advantages for you

  • High-production tube and profile processing through the combination of a number of work steps (saws, drilling, milling or de-burring)
  • High-precision cutting and perfect fitting
  • No costly re-machining
  • Cuts free from burrs
  • Flow drilling: replacement of extensive constructions with rivet nuts, weld nuts and insert nuts as well as thread cutting; chipless forming with less material input and significantly less work steps compared to drilling
